Karee Plourd and I met while we were both waitressing at the Poodle Dog Restaurant in Fife. We became instant friends and have remained that way ever since. We even started our businesses in the same year when we decided to sell at Farmer's markets and bazaars together. Here is her story:

Karee Plourd lives in the beautiful Pacific Northwest region of the USA in Orting, Washington with her husband Rick, and their 3 children.

She fell in love with the idea of healing herself in a natural way and was visiting a Farmer's Market in Hoquiam, WA in 1998 when she met her future teacher, Isa "Kitty" Mady. Kitty is an herbalist, writer, and teacher who had a business called Roseworks Botanicals at the time, and just happened to be selling her herbal products at the Farmer's Market that Karee was visiting. Karee bought some of her products and Kitty threw in a little container of healing salve because Karee had a bad cold at the time and her nose was all red, raw, and hurting from blowing it so much. Well, she tried it right then and there, and it took the sting away immediately, and she said "I gotta know how to make this!" And so began their friendship and Karee's adventure on learning how to harness the power of herbs and oils.

She trained with Kitty once a week for a full year....she would make the long drive to Montesano and spend the entire day there learning all she could. During that time, she experimented with recipes and developed her skills. She is still researching and increasing her skill. In fact, she says, "there is so much to learn about natural healing that I will be a student for the rest of my life."

When she became completely hooked, she began sharing her passion with family and friends. And so resulted the opening of her business called "The Simple Rose" in 2000.

In addition to the Owie Stuff, Karee also makes herbal teas, lip balms, massage oils, and bath salts. And she never uses dyes, or anything else synthetic, everything is completely natural. All of her wonderful products are of the highest quality and I absolutely love using all of them (we trade regularly!)
